BPA free packaging by Fig Food Co.

Obviously, it is always better to buy fresh, whole foods, but sometimes you need food in cans and jars too. I am always on the lookout for food in BPA free packaging. BPA is still in most canned and jarred food even though the "FDA shares the perspective of the National Toxicology Program that recent studies provide reason for some concern about the potential effects of BPA on the brain, behavior, and prostate gland of fetuses, infants and children." Although the chemical industry claims the evidence is inconclusive, it seems like every day there is a new study about the effects of BPA regarding long term health, fertility and behavior.

I recently discovered Fig Food Co., which has a line of organic soups and beans in BPA free packaging.

We tried the baked beans, which were really good and better than my go-to BPA-free bean brand, Eden Organics. Our dog is particularly psyched about my find. She doesn't get blamed for enough around here.

What are your favorite brands in BPA-free packaging? I'm also a big fan of Pomi strained and chopped tomatoes.
